Abstract
Nowadays coronavirus infection caused by SARS-CoV-2 is becoming an explosive global pandemic. Therefore, various endocrinological manifestations of coronavirus disease have been considered by scientists increasingly frequently. Due to the identification of the receptors to angiotensin-converting enzyme 2 in the thyroid gland, through which SARS-CoV-2 enters its cells, and the action of integrins, people who have suffered from coronavirus disease are at increased risk for thyrotoxicosis, subacute and chronic thyroiditis. For early diagnosis of thyroid dysfunction in individuals with COVID-19, the etiopathogenetic mechanisms of the development and progression of de Quervain’s thyroiditis manifestations require further study. The paper provides a review of modern studies on the diagnosis and treatment of de Quervain’s thyroiditis in individuals with coronavirus disease, which was diagnosed late due to consideration as a manifestation of other diseases. The case report presents a female patient with no history of thyroid pathology who developed a severe course of de Quervain’s thyroiditis due to coronavirus infection.
