Approaches to solving the problem of early childhood caries in Ukraine from the position of modern medical and technological documents

Abstract

Introduction. An important task of healthcare in Ukraine is the creation of medical and technological documents, in particular in dentistry. Until 2023, there was no standard for the treatment of early caries of primary teeth, which is a significant health problem in Ukraine and abroad.
The goal is to analyze the directions and ways of managing of early childhood caries in accordance with current medical and technological documents. Material and methods. The bibliosemantic method was used, the principles of creation and content of medical and technological documents of Ukraine related to early childhood caries were analyzed. Results. The prototype of the Ukrainian Clinical Guidelines for the treatment of caries of primary teeth was chosen as the document of the World Health Organization, dedicated to the management of early childhood caries. The chosen prototype was supplemented with additional sources of the American and European Academies of Pediatric Dentistry with a high level of evidence. The created Evidence-Based Guidelines and the Standard of Medical Care include a wide range of preventive measures, a list of methods of non-invasive, minimally invasive and conventional surgical treatment of this disease, and also outline the range of individuals and medical professionals who can implement the recommendations provided. Conclusions. New regulatory documents: Evidence-based clinical guideline «Caries of deciduous teeth» and the Standard of medical care «Caries of deciduous teeth» provide the practitioner with the necessary regulatory framework for implementing treatment and preventive measures for early childhood caries in accordance with the existing level of risk of its development, but do not exclude the need to create other regulatory documents regulating dental prevention in people of different ages, in particular — in the further expansion of the circle of specialists involved in preventive measures for early childhood caries
