Abstract
Inflammatory eye diseases are one of the causes of vision loss, which makes the study of this problem among the most important tasks of clinical ophthalmology. Focal and disseminated chorioretinitis lead to irreversible vision loss, especially when complicated by optic neuritis.
Purpose — to determine the role of the influence of the course use (14 days) of the drug Pharmaxon® (Citicoline) 1000 mg on the functional state of the visual analyzer in patients with focal and disseminated chorioretinitis and optic neuritis.
Method and material. The study involved 74 patients (74 eyes) aged 18 to 43 years, 59 patients of whom received Pharmaxon® (Citicoline) 1000 mg daily for 14 days as intramuscular injections. The control group included 15 patients (15 eyes) who received only traditional therapy without the use of Pharmaxon® (Citicoline). The informativeness of the method of X-ray diagnostics of optical coherence tomography in chorioretinitis (focal and disseminated) and chorioretinitis complicated by optic neuritis has been studied.
Results. Anti-inflammatory drug treatment combined with the nootropic drug Pharmaxon® (Citicoline) has improved the functional state of the optic nerve and the inner layers of the retina in patients with posterior uveitis complicated by optic neuritis. This can be explained by the fact that cyti-knee has neuromodulatory and neuroprotective properties against retinal ganglion cells and is able to reduce their morpho-functional disorders. Increased visual acuity by 3.2±0.3 times occurred in patients with focal and disseminated chorioretinitis, as well as chorioretinitis complicated by optic neuritis. In 46 patients, the field of vision was diagnosed by 34% in the main group, in addition, the number of relative cattle was reduced by 2 times. On the fundus observed resorption of edema, hemorrhage near the foci. Control images of additional nasal cavities showed resorption of exudate in the maxillary and frontal cavities.
