Journal policies

Peer Review:

All materials submitted to the editorial office of the journal "Therapeutics / Named after Prof. M.M. Berezhnytskyi" must undergo external double-blind peer review, the purpose of which is to provide authors with constructive criticism to improve the quality of the manuscript and ensure high standards of published materials. The peer review process includes:

1.Initial assessment by the editors:

The editor-in-chief checks the manuscript for accordance with the scope of the journal, assesses the relevance of the topic, the presence of scientific novelty and accordance with the requirements for its design. If the article significantly does not meet the requirements of the journal and requires considerable correction, it may be rejected without review (desk reject).

2.Selection of reviewers:

The Editor-in-Chief appoints at least two external independent reviewers who are experts in the relevant field, as evidenced by their publication history. The peer review is double-blind, meaning that the reviewer is not given the personal information of the author(s), and similarly, the author(s) are not given the identity or personal information of the reviewer.

3.The actual peer-review:

The review procedure usually lasts for one month. The manuscript is evaluated on the basis of relevance and novelty, the presence of theoretical and applied significance, the correspondence of the applied approaches and statistical methods to the research task, the sufficient validity of the results obtained, and the authors' compliance with the rules of scientific ethics. If any evidence of manipulation or falsification of data is discovered, the manuscript will be rejected. Reviewers evaluate the article and provide their conclusions in writing, which correspond to the overall assessment of the work, comments and recommendations:

  • accept for publication,
  • sent to the author or authors for revision,
  • reject the article.

In cases of disagreement between the reviewers' recommendations, additional external reviewers are invited.

4.Editorial decision:

The journal Editorial Board reads the reviews and makes a final decision: to accept, request minor or major revisions, or reject. This decision is sent to the author(s) along with the reviewers' conclusions, comments, and remarks of the editors.

5.Re-review (if necessary):

After the authors have revised the manuscript, in case of significant corrections and changes, the editor may re-send the article for re-review by the same reviewers. They re-evaluate the work, taking into account the previous comments and changes made, and provide a reasoned written decision on acceptance or rejection of the article for publication.

Editors and editorial staff are not authorized to disclose information about submitted works to anyone except the respective authors, reviewers, other editorial consultants, and, if necessary, the publisher.

The editor and editorial staff do not have the right to use in any way unpublished materials contained in the submitted manuscript.

Publication fee:

Publishing in the journal "Terapevtyka" is completely free of charge for authors. The journal does not charge any publication fees, editorial fees, or other charges related to the process of submitting, reviewing, editing, or publishing scientific articles. This policy is aimed at supporting open access to scientific knowledge, encouraging researchers to share the results of their work, and promoting the free development of medical science without financial barriers.

Procedure for Retraction of Published Articles:

The purpose of retraction is to inform the scientific community about the unreliability or inaccuracy of certain publications, not to punish the authors.

Retraction of a published article is carried out in cases where violations of academic integrity or significant errors that affect the reliability of published results are identified.
The retraction procedure is conducted in accordance with the ethical principles outlined in the recommendations of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

An article may be retracted in the following cases:

  • detection of plagiarism, falsification, or fabrication of data;
  • submission of identical materials to multiple journals (duplicate publication);
  • discovery of serious methodological or analytical errors that distort the research results;
  • violation of ethical standards of research;
  • improper authorship (exclusion or inclusion of authors without their consent);
  • decisions by judicial or institutional bodies confirming data unreliability.

A retraction may be initiated by:

  • the author (or authors) of the publication;
  • the editorial board of the journal;
  • readers, reviewers, or institutions that have identified violations.

The editorial team conducts a preliminary investigation, during which explanations are obtained from the authors and, if necessary, from third parties. After the investigation is completed, the final decision is made by the Editor-in-Chief in consultation with the editorial board.

In the event of a retraction:

  • The title of the publication сhanges to “Retracted: [Article Title]”;
  • The full text of the article remains available in the electronic version, marked with a “RETRACTED / ВІДКЛИКАНО” watermark on each page;
  • An official retraction notice is published at the beginning of the PDF file of the retracted article, which includes:
    • the title and authors of the retracted article;
    • the reason for retraction;
    • a reference to the original publication;
    • the date of the decision;
    • the signature of the Editor-in-Chief.

The retraction notice is open and publicly available in the journal’s database. Retracted articles are not removed from the journal archives; they remain in the database with an appropriate retraction label. The Editorial Board notifies the relevant databases and indexing services about the retraction in order to update the publication’s status in their systems.

Policy on the use of artificial intelligence:

The journal Editorial Board allows the use of artificial intelligence in the review and editorial processes. However, their use must be controlled by the authors and cannot replace full human revise. All cases of use of AI must be transparent and clearly indicated in the manuscript.

Preservation and Deposit:

The licensor has the right to post the transferred materials on the Internet (for example, in the institute's archive or on a personal website) before and during the process of its peer-review, as this will contribute to a productive discussion and a greater number of references to this work.
