Abstract

The article presents an analysis of a clinical case involving a patient with Marfan syndrome. A distinguishing feature of this case is the primary involvement of the mitral valve rather than the aortic valve — specifically, the presence of mitral valve prolapse with partial chordal rupture and left atriomegaly. Other stigmata of Marfan syndrome are also present. The patient underwent mitral valve replacement with translocation and left atrial plasty. For 14 years, the patient remained relatively stable. The recent deterioration is attributed to the progression of heart failure associated with left atrial fibrillation. Clinical compensation was achieved through pharmacological therapy.
