Abstract
The research direction of the university is development of New Medical Techniques of Diagnosis and Treatment of Major Human Diseases. 117 doctors and 540 candidates of sciences out of the whole academic staff (895 members) of the University including Honoured Masters of Science and Engineering of Ukraine, the Honoured Healthcare Worker of Ukraine, 3 Laureates of State Prize of Ukraine in Science and Engineering, the Honoured Inventor of Ukraine, Honoured Physicians of Ukraine, and Honoured Workers of Physical Culture and Sports of Ukraine participate in the research work.
According to the main research direction of the University, about 180 scientific research works (SRW) are conducted annually. They include researches financed from the state budget of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine, independent exploratory developments, economic contract projects and a number of works conducted within the international, multicenter, randomized trials. In their scientific research works scientists of IFNMU make extensive use of opportunities for scientific cooperation with higher education institutions, research institutions and clinics both in Ukraine and abroad. The University is the organizer of a number of scientific and practical conferences. It also occupies a leading position in the country based on the results of students’ research work.
4 professional editions included in the list of professional editions of SAC of Ukraine are issued in which scientists publish their research results. These professional editions are «Galician Medical Bulletin», «Archive of Clinical Medicine», «Carpathian Bulletin of the Scientific Society named after T.G. Shevchenko»,«Art of Medicine».
The University constantly pays special attention to the training of academic and teaching staff. There are 4 specialized learned councils in 9 specialties: Internal Medicine; Cardiology; Dentistry; Normal Anatomy (Medical Sciences); Histology, Cytology, Embryology (Medical Sciences); Pediatrics; Infectious Diseases; Obstetrics and Gynecology; Surgery. To ensure the high quality of research, the University has 10 certified research laboratories holding a Certificate of Technical Competence. Therefore, the novel scientific advances of Ivano-Frankivsk National Medical University are an important component of the educational process.
